Working with Photoshop was a challenge since I don't work with this program often. I attempted this project twice as well due to the first submission being, not of a natural idea and motivation that I imposed and the composition of it needed a lot more work. The first submission on the left actually came from an idea of a friend to imagine a galaxy of souls. It had to be a different dimensional galaxy other than our universe so I took it as an actual challenge rather than a meaningful composition. I chose neon because I wanted the light box to create a retro-galactic effect which I thought would be fun to view, but not everything about art is meant to be fun. I had to struggle to find time to reattempt this project, but this time I wanted it to be my idea. I had though of a nightly scene with stars and peeking light throughout the piece. I had chosen a romantic picture from google and edited it with replication of more stars and skewing of the landscape. I wanted the audience to feel a drifting and softened notion like I had envisioned. To me, it still didn't feel soft enough to convey the mood I was looking for so I instantly though of choosing a "paint" filter over the top of it, and it moved exactly like how I wanted it to move. The only concern I had when I submitted it was the familiarity to the work of Picasso. I wanted to steer away from it looking like any other repeatable thing, but it went toward that direction anyway. I weighed out the options of removing/keeping the "paint" filter and decided to keep it because it matched up with my intention, even if it lacked a bit of originality.
