Color Show Piece

As for this piece, I went for a single color genre instead of an official monochromatic approach. I used metallic colors silver, gold, and electric blue to illuminate the essence of a curved sculpture. It symbolized a woman with flowing curvatures of the body standing on its own base. The shelves signified organization of a woman and how we balance many shelves (obstacles/weighing situations) in society and in our homes. Women need a moment of recognition occasionally. I had attempted this project twice because the first attempt involved my mother mistaking it for trash, which brought me to a realization that maybe there is something that I am constructing wrong on this sculpture. On the left is a close up of the first attempt and I feel like a lot of my worry was with the bordering of aluminum foil onto the sculpture for added reflection, illumination and to soften the edges of the cardboard. It was a lightly over-dramatic turnover. For the second attempt, I used a cleaner cutting utensil to make precise edging and less hot glue to clean up the gooing. I also evenly overlapped the three metallic colors instead of separating them this time. Overall it looked a lot better, which is shown in the images below.
